چکیده
Objective: This study is aimed to see the level of high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and its association with manifestations polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Design: cross-sectional was conducted over a period one year (January 2017 December 2018) in department Endocrinology University hospital. Participants: Fifty-five PCOS patients diagnosed on basis revised Rotterdam diagnostic criteria 2003 50 age-matched healthy controls [PCOS vs. Control- BMI (kg/m2): 25.47±4.65 20.68±3.51, p<0.001]. Main outcome measures: hs-CRP level, Methods: After relevant history physical examinations, blood taken fasting state during follicular phase menstrual cycle measure total testosterone (TT), luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle stimulating (FSH) hs-CRP. Hormones were measured by chemiluminescent microparticle immuno-assay nephelometric technique. Results: (mg/L) found significantly higher [1.67 (0.69, 2.54) 0.94 (0.30, 1.42), p=0.006] even after adjustment for age [OR (95% CI): 1.585 (1.093, 2.299), p=0.015]. Also status (>5 mg/L) them than that controls; but only non-obese (BMI <25 kg/m2) participants [7.27% 0.0%, p=0.018]. hs- CRP showed no significant correlation predictive any including age, BMI, waist circumference, TT LH/FSH ratio [p=NS all] Conclusions: Patients had without manifestations. Familial aggregation of circulating C-reactive protein in polycystic ovary syndrome.
STUDY QUESTION What is the heritability of C-reactive protein (CRP) levels in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and their first-degree relatives? SUMMARY ANSWER Women with PCOS and their siblings are more likely to have elevated CRP levels when both of their parents have elevated CRP. This PCOS family-based study indicates that CRP levels are likely a heritable trait. WHAT IS KNOW...

OBJECTIVE We investigated metabolic syndrome and its association with high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) levels in Cuban Americans. METHODS The study included 161 nondiabetic Cuban Americans (55 men and 106 women) aged > or = 30 years living in South Florida. Metabolic syndrome was defined by using Adult Treatment Panel III criteria. Elevated hs-CRP level was defined as > 3 mg/L. ...
متن کاملAssociation between serum levels of Adipokines and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine disorder associated with metabolic disorders and infertility. Evidence suggests that the adipose tissue secreted products, adipokines, play an important role in the pathophysiology of PCOS. Reciprocally, PCOS influences on the adipokines serum content, also on gene or protein expression of some of them. Finding out of assoc...
متن کاملAcute phase proteins: C-reactive protein and fibrinogen in young women with polycystic ovary syndrome.
Females with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) are characterized by several metabolic abnormalities that favor the development of atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis is possibly a chronic inflammatory process, and the markers of the inflammatory state, such as C-reactive protein (CRP) and fibrinogen may be useful to assess the global risk of developing cardiovascular diseases. These proteins might ...
متن کاملSerum C-Reactive Protein Levels in Normal-Weight Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
BACKGROUND/AIMS Serum levels of highly sensitive C-reactive protein (hsCRP), a vascular inflammatory marker, may predict the development of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and type 2 diabetes. Women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) are at greater risk for type 2 diabetes and CVD. The aim of this study was to compare hsCRP levels between normal weight women with PCOS and controls with a normal...
